Paola Gregory, Architecture and haptic realm: “the way the body sees”
Paper for ProArch INTERSEZIONI. Rivista della Società Scientifica Nazionale dei Docenti di Progettazione ICAR 14 15 16, call
The essay explores a range of design issues that have placed the spatiality of the body at the center of their interests, creating a shift in perspective that, by privileging the body as a perceiving and acting entity, works with a reference system that is not perspectival but rather proprioceptive and kinesthetic. This research includes the recovery of the haptic qualities of architecture, in which the play of light and shadow appears particularly significant.
